    Hi Dr Sassi,

Im trying to make a label with the collision deformer but its being difficult.

I've tried all the various modes and played around with different geometry and normal directions but I cant get the plane to wrap to the shape of the surface of my bottle

The best I could do was have it take the correct shape, but sit way off the surface - there's a big gap for some reason.

Any idea where I went wrong?

    Here's my file: https://we.tl/t-26BgtybREL

    Thanks again!

      Hi MaverickMongoose,

Thank you very much for the file and for using Wetransfer.

There are other ways to do it. Perhaps I missed the idea of the Collision Deformer and your target with it, so please let me know.

Here are two ways I would do Labels.

You can use the Surface Deformer to scale and position the label. If you match the edges, the gap between the two can be very small.

The other way is less adjustable. It works with a polygon selection, either in the size of the label or if that won't match, choose a larger area and work with an Opacity mask (Alpha)
The Copy from any bottle can then be moved a little bit ( here 0.01cm) to separate and give the label some "thickness"; the
main Menu> Move>Normal Move is the way to go. [M~Z] and it can be parametrically - Attribute manager.

      Is that working for you?

      All the best

I thought the Collision Deformer would be the best option but it doesn't seem to work as expected - The Surface Deformer is a much better option, thanks for that!!

Thank you for the feedback, MaverickMongoose,

I think of the collision deformer more of an Footsteps in snow and a character bounces into something.

Cloth might be closer for a label to fall on a bottle, but it might stretch too much to get close.

There. are certainly more options to get there, like Edge to Spline and Loft tool, but I prefer the one shared above.

Other artist might just layer the materials, but havind a separate object providea an more relasiting feel IMHOM.

My best wishes for your project
