      Question about Emitters in Cinema4d.

      I have done this in Blender, but cannot figure out how to do this in cinema4d

      Am trying to create a stream of bubbles in a glass bottle. The Bubbles take some time to rise into view. How can I sort of "pre-roll" the particle system so it starts like -240F when the play range is set to 0-90F. Even if I set the start Frame of the Emitter to -240F the bubbles still only start at 0 (Start of Play range). How can I make this work ?

        Hi family-flow,

        Set the preview time to -240 and the end time to your target end time.
        In the Attribute manager> Particles, set the starting time to the same (-240).
        Call the Simulate> Bake Particles (start -240, and set the end frame.)
        Bake it.
        Now set the timeline back to zero to your end frame, e.g., 0-90.

        (You can leave the timeline setting (right lower corner to -240 and use the timeline preview bar to limit the overall preview time.

        Objects can be used even after baking.

              So that works, but how do I use the cache file without the "preroll" frames (the frames before zero)?
              I would like to loop the full particle build without the starting frames.

                I just figured it out.
                In the Particle Group Cache tab uncheck "Use Animation".
                Then, animate the "Frame" parameter.
                I pre-rolled my 300-frame particle sim starting at -60. So my sim is 360 frames long. Once I had the Cache built, I set a keyframe for Frame at 0 and the another Frame keyframe at 300. It defaults to linear, so I just needed to set the "After" property of the keyframes to "Repeat".

                The "Help" file kinda says this but it's ambiguous as usual and took some experimenting, but glad I figured it out.

                        Please use the "Share Your Ideas".

                        If you have a few examples as a collection, it might help to see a "communication pattern" that is the main problem.

                        Or perhaps you have something else in mind, like starting with defining all terms, and then the text might work.
                        Or having more background information first.

                        We all have created a unique set of data and, based on that, created something that learning theories call schema (Piaget, Cognitivism). How much that connects with a provided text is the key concern here.
                        While no one working in this field is considering that there is a "one size fits all" solution, we have to aim for that anyway. The alternative is longer documentation or many versions as the next option.

                        Our current idea is to share videos and YouTube shows (Ask The Trainer), for example, where one can ask and get a different way of exchanging information.

                        But how we learn and what is the best way is a long and expansive "story".

                          Thanks for all the advice. I use a lot of those sources, especially lately with all the new stuff.
                          Sometimes I run into the classic "using the thing to define the thing", which can be a little frustrating, and will start making a list when I run into it again. And more simple examples in places would also help. Sometimes examples are there and sometimes they're not and I will make notes and send. Generally I can find what I'm looking for through Help or online sources. Sometimes not.

                            Everything that is discussed here will help many other artists at one point.
                            Hence, I believe in the forum and take time to answer carefully, never answer from memory, and check each time if something that has worked in the past does so right now.
