Cinema 4D and Mac Studio M1 Ultra Issues
-
Has anyone experienced issues running Cinema 4D on a Mac Studio M1 Ultra?
I spent a month troubleshooting issues ranging from excessive memory use, crashes, proxy settings, and flickering screens, but was never able to get to the root cause. I ended up returning the first Mac Studio and ordering a new one.
After installing Cinema 4D on the new Mac Studio, I am experiencing excessive crashes while using Corona Render. Additionally, my viewport is displaying the 3D model with jagged edges.
My experience using Cinema 4D with the M1 Ultra has been poor so far. Would I be better off reverting to an Intel-based Mac instead?
Thank you for the input.

Hi pete_maric,
I have been okay with M1s here, different versions, while running different OS, including Apple beta. I would only avoid Monterey if "you" run certain external SSDs.
I don't do hardware stuff here, not the place and no interest, but I can tell the results I get from Cinema 4D and the used software pipeline here, e.g., Ae, Pr, DVR, etc.
I have on an M1max an XDR 32" screen, 6K, and it works great. Super crisp in any setting. On this one, I have a second screen plus an HDR LG C2 42" 4K (UHD) screen for color monitoring. All three at the same time, all fine. The LG: I have tested with Spears & Munsil UHD HDR Benchmark and checked its calibration and settings carefully. Again, all fine, and in comparison to each other.
No, I wouldn't go back to Intel hardware.
I do not use Corona at all. I do not have a license. I use Redshift 3D. I Love it.
Check with tech support. Both.

Good luck finding the problem! I hope you can soon focus on creativity alone.
All the best

Thank you for the reply, I appreciate your feedback.
I'm using the Apple Studio display with a Cinema HD as a second monitor. Could it be the Studio display that's causing these issues?
Yes, I've been in contact with Corona Render, still haven't resolved the crashing issue though.
The main question I was trying to get answered was if Cinema 4D and the Mac Studio M1 Ultra work well together and if any users were encountering the same issues as me.

Hi pete_maric,
Here is all fine. I have no data that anyone complained.
I can't tell. It shouldn't. Check the preferences, start in safe mode (Instructions are in the prefs.)
Please check with support.
Perhaps leave the HD screen out of it for a test, restart, check the Display Settings.
When you go to the Scaled, press the option key before clicking on the dot left to Select, that gives you more options.Cheers
