Content/Asset Browser Licensing
-
Hi,
Does anyone know if all the assets provided in the Content/Asset browsers is royalty-free for commercial use?
Thanks -
Hi asploshko,
All of that content is now called "Capsules" (§13) and is defined in the EULA (End User License Agreement)
https://www.maxon.net/en/legal/eulaI hope that helps, and sorry for the long read; those things get long based on bad experiences, not to annoy all our nice customers who play fair. So, sorry about that.
All the best

Hi,
So if I understand the EULA correctly, I can use the assets for commercial purposes without giving credit as long as they can't be extracted or implied to be the main focus of a creative work. For example, I would be allowed to use a car asset as a set piece in an animation that I receive payment for, correct? And just to be safe, does this EULA apply to older versions of Cinema 4D with pre-installed content libraries?
Thanks -
Hi adploshko,
Please know that I thought long about the lines below, balancing my interest in giving you an answer while also evaluating how much damage I could create, perhaps on both sides of that table, with wrong answers.
I have no Law degree yet enough semesters of law during my education to know that I would overstep and land in hot water if I started interpreting anything of the EULA.
I would encourage you to contact Maxon directly in case of doubt. This is a creative solution forum, not a law interpretation service; I hope you can understand that I can't do this here.As we filmmakers often say: "If in doubt, cut it out." Again, my personal take on that.
Thanks for understanding. I will ask if we can create a workshop for this (Like during Ask The Trainer show, while having some law experts being the artist's representative), so any concerns can be vaporized and creativity is at the center of everyone's work, which might help as well to get some savvy knowledge about one's own work.
Creating something wonderful that Maxon would love to showcase would be my personal suggestion.
Enjoy your projects

Hi,
I understand. Thank you for your input. Who can I contact in Maxon regarding this question? I'm not sure it would be relevant for tech support or sales.
Thanks -
Hi adploshko,
Please open a ticket, and ask to forward it.
https://www.maxon.net/en/support-centerMy tip:
Specify exactly what you like to do and why you think that is unclear in the EULA. Be super specific with your project.
From my point of view, general questions are challenging to answer as they require thinking through all possible options.
After all, the EULA is written to be as general as possible, while it is pretty simple, from my point of view, compared to other papers I have seen. All the best
