Symmetry mode and Coordinate manager
-
Hi. Why can't I change the position, size or rotation e.g. points in symmetric mode using coordinate manager? The mirrored side simply does not react to the change of numerical values. Only the directly edited symmetry side reacts. C4DR23

Hi hang-single,
Images don't tell a lot, I can't see what the Symmetry settings are, nor what is symmetry based and what geometry is in the model already.
Please share a file, below 1MB and as c4d, so it can be attached here directly. I'm happy to look into it.
OR if you prefer, check with tech support:

@Dr-Sassi I attach Temp02.c4d

Thanks a lot for the file.
The two active points gave a hint, but I was not clear about what I saw in the image. Both Symmetry options look similar. While not knowing what geometry was given and which one was produced made it difficult to say anything.
You used The Symmetry option from the top menu, not the Symmetry Object. Your object is already symmetrical. So when you select one point, you can move it; typically, the mirrored point moves as well as it is selected.
This selection is in the way, from my point of view, to allow for parametrically input. As it is selected, it will move as the parameter suggests, but at the same time, it will also move to follow the symmetry, meaning it gets to work twice. This means the parametric adjustment would cancel each other out or double the movement. I hope that makes sense.That is different with the Symmetry Object; while only half of the object is given, the other mirrored side would "reflect" the entry. The Symmetry Object does not work very well with Symmetrically objects, so also not a way to go.
My suggestion for your setup here: Use a Null or a Spline as a guide or anything that follows numerical input while allowing for snapping. Then snap one point of your setup to it. The "other" point will follow as wanted.

@Dr-Sassi Hi Dr., thank you for the explanation and advice

Hi hang-single,
You're very welcome.
Even if I can explain the problem, it doesn't mean it has to stay that way. So thanks for the question in the first place!
I will file a report that the auto symmetry selection could be optional, and that would allow for the functionality you are after.
