Yes, back in the days with those Oil projector light shows, those were the days.
And exactly what I want to do!
I have a close look at your example and get back to you.

I am trying to simulate below picture / animation.
It is a simulation of fluids mixing (often used in light show at pop concerts).
So the main thing is how to 'mix' textures in cinema?
I started using the Proximal shader, but it is very complicated.
I hop someone can help me.
Great!
The first solution - using the visible option - gives me what I want.
The second solution is very complex. Some quesions about it:
The Xpresso is indeed very very small!
That makes the Formula rather complex.
Thanks for all your help.
Regards,
Pim
I managed to do it with 2 Fields.
One 'turning on' the circles and one 'turning off' the circles.
Thus seeing only 1 circle.
However, it is not that smooth.
Do you have any suggestions to improve?
Regards,
Pim
I took your idea to use a Formula, but I used xpresso.
Now I can scale the circle, stepwise every 10 frames (using the mod() funcion in the formula).
Is this a good solution, or do you think doing it another way is better?
Here is the project file.
scale circle v01.c4d
Hi Dr. Sassi,
Thanks for the reply.
That solves the reply on the stepwise moving and scaling.
But I only want to see the last one, not the previous ones.
How to do that?
Regards,
Pim
Hi,
I have one circle (in a sweep) and I want to move and scale that circle stepwise.
So, do the following in a loop:
I tried to do it with MoGraph, using different effectors like Plain or Step (with or without Fields), but no success.
The main question is, I guess, how to show only one clone and not all the other clones?
Regards,
Pim
@Dr-Sassi Oke, I will limit to height of 500 pixels and scene size of 1 Mb.
Another thing I noticed is that my version is not working because the new second Field was not added to the Polygon Selection Tag of the Text.1 object.
After adding it, it worked.
I do not fully understand why this is needed?
PS I also noticed that I have to update my knowledge on fields.
@Dr-Sassi Sorry, I do not fully understand.
I tried to recreate the setup, by replacing your 'Linear Field.Particles' with my own Linear Field.
But that does not work.
The text is 'hidden', but no particles are generated?
I think I use the same setting as in your 'Linear Field.Particles',
but apparently one of the settings is wrong.
But which one?
PS I tried to upload a picture and a scene file, but I get below errors.
The jpg file is 90kb and 443x800.
The scene file is 1500kb. If I make it a zip file, I get a invalid type error?

xxx.c4d Unspecified error when uploading scene file?

@Dr-Sassi I am beginning to see the light!
I have now a text that is dissolved and particles are emitted.
However, particles are emitted from all polygons.
Only the polygons that are 'dissolved' should emit particles.
What am I doing wrong?

Pim
I started to look at the tutorials and one of the things I see, is that I have an old version.
I upgraded to R2024.5.0 and now the plugins are there.
Great, thank you.
I will be busy looking and learning this weekend.
I will let you know my progress.
In the scene file you send me, some plugins are missing:
Particle Group, mesh emitter, stick and collide.
But perhaps I will find these plugin described in the tutorials,
I am using R2024.0.2

Pim
I saw a tutorial on the Internet to dissolve a text using Mograph (matrix and cloner) and that works fine.
But now I want to control the 'particals'. For example fall to the ground (using Gravity?).
Could you please show me how to do that?
Regards,
Pim
Great words, thank you!
One question about the screencapture.
I guess you remodeled the alien, because with my model the arms are very difficult to animate.
Your animation is very smooth with the arms.
Can I have a look at the model?
Regards,
Pim
@Dr-Sassi Great, thanks for the tips!
I studied your scene file and the tutorials and for me it is now working!
I did the Build again - and used Ik instead of Fk for the arms - and improves the weighting, continually looking at the details. I had to redo it about 5 times, but that give me experience in weighting.
I also used your tip to increase the size of the controllers.
Here my updated scene file.
v2 04.c4d
A last question, how difficult is it to make your walk cycle.
So not using CMotion?
Regards,
Pim
@Dr-Sassi Thanks for the tips on the tutorials.
I will start again with an Advanced Biped and not with a Biped.
But hopefully you can have a look at my scene file and give me some tips on what I do wrong.
I downsized my scene file to below 1 Mb and I can upload it.
Regards,
Pim
I created a character that I want to animate.
The easiest, I think, is using the Character Object.
So I added a Character Object, Adjust and Bind.
Then I weighted using the Weight Manager and the Weigth Tool.
Question:
Weighting was not that easy, I could not select / deselect the correct polygons.
Could it be that my mesh is not good enough, incorrect polygons or too large polygons?
What is now the best way to animate?
I see there are only User Data Controls for the Legs, but not for the other components like the Arms and the Head?
I added a CMotion Object
But I could not make the arms move in sync with the legs?
Looking at the knee, it is a bit jumpy, not smooth?
Hope you can help me and correct / explain things.
Regards,
Pim
PS I hope the upload of the c4d scene is ok, It gave me an error. The file is only 1.262 KB
Beautifull. Long render times, but I decreased the number os samples in Sub-Frame Motion Blur.
Thank you.
Hi, I have been to a great popconcert where I saw these beautiful laser lights!
I tried to create that same laser effect in Cinema, but I am not sure how to do it.
Initially I though to put a light in a closed cube with only a small hole in it.
That works for a single spot light with a very small beam.
If I use a area light (a rectangle) and put it in that same closed cube with the whole, I expect to see a small but broad beam of light.
But that does not seem to work.
What am I doing wrong?

Pim
