Planting the foot flat on the ground might take a few iterations. Since I don't have the file here, I can't tell you more.

Typically, Inverse kinematics is used to make the end of a leg more easily placed.

Select the object and paste it into a new project file; you might need to use the RS Asset Manager to reconnect all Textures.
Save with Assets with a new Project name.

Since I have no idea what you got and what you have deleted/turned off (e.g., Tags or render settings, Vray specific objects) from it, it isn't easy to say.

The tech support files a report, and that goes to the developers. There, it is handled, and I have no idea what I can do here for you, as I certainly have no say in what they do first or last. Well, sometimes I wish, of course.

I understand that should be fixed ASAP, and I would not be happy about it when this is needed. Fingers crossed, it is included in the "drop."

Please note that I prefer the Null/MoGraph Tracer setup over the Spline IK. But it is equally good if the Spline is used instead of the Joints in the Spline IK setup.
