Think of the most straightforward formula as the number 1, in other words, replace the formula with 1. This is then the same as the Plain Effector.
The one stands for 100% of the Parameter in the Effector.

When you explore the Variables in the interface, you might get some ideas already: use the id/count to have values from zero to 1 applied to clones with the id zero to id max.

That should be all for the beginning. Let it sink in.

I have no idea about the objects that serve as surfaces, but could it be possible to manually create groups of these Roses and have them always in the same size while rotating and randomly distributing them?

The other option would be to create a specific "polygon-matrix" and then scale it to the polygon size.

Perhaps create a third version, a mix of the two.

Again, if that can be projected or used with the surfaces you have in mind, it is not to my knowledge.

There are two things you need to know:

First, saving incrementally and autosaving might help here.

But, as long as the Ai file is linked, it will read its current state when opening it. So, if any changes happen to the Ai file, that might show.

Since this is hard to reproduce, I don't ask for a file.

But safe incremental (Illustrator and Cinema4D). It might be beneficial at one point.

N-Gons are great for modeling; after that, they should go.

With the Remesh Generator, we have a great and fast way to produce lovely meshes for a wider variety of objects. Is that always working? It depends. Trial and error from time to time, sure.

Compare the results when rendering the scene. The scale will change if you move the time slider; frame 30 is perhaps a good starting point. I think the object on the right will clearly show the minimum quality. It's the same material and the exact same RS Object Tag. Just the underlying polygon setup differs.

Perhaps a sketch or even a storyboard would help to see what your target looks like.

Several options are certainly possible depending on what you like to have and how you edit the clip.

The Bend deformer (and perhaps just the Voronoi Fracture would be the simplest way, and besides anything Simulation-based, I believe using Joints would be the more complex but eventually the more detailed approach. For a professional production, where often uncounted revisions are done when the peel would be the focus point of a take, then Joints might work best.

Yes, with tears, we have seen a few results of little rough shapes fly away, but peels tear so rough, and their edges depend on the cut. In my example above, I would assume to use an Alpha channel to define a more "natural" shape than the rectangle. With the inverted Alpha, the remainders would be defined.

The Matrix Object is the classic object to be deformed without deforming the Clones later on.

You can filter Rotation and Scale with the Inheritance Effector, so only Position is left.

Anyway, perhaps go to Preferences> Render> Redshift, and switch User Interface>Material Preview to Off (or When Render is Idle).
I suggest testing if the problem persists when you use a different drive, perhaps just a fast UBS.

Is that the same problem on a different computer for you if you can?

It is a simple Cloner> Blend, with an Effector set to Modify the Clone combination.

Each Clone's ID produces a different state of the Blend with the formula.
I have five child Objects under the Cloner. (Two or three would already work.) Each time, the Bend Deformer is set up differently.

The formula produces a result of "cycling" between zero and one. Zero is the one end of the Child hierarchy, and one is the other end. Or, to be more detailed, if the Effector produces 0.5, then it is the middle child.

While the ID of each clone is in the "mix," the results vary, and this produces the variety.

One obstacle was undoubtedly in the "Scale" settings of the objects, being different than 1.0; I would avoid this in animation, as it distorts things down in the hierarchy.

Wheels can make sense in two ways: the axis moves or is fixed.

I have both in the scene and placed a camera on it so it can be easily observed. The camera has no other use here.

I have set the Up Vector to Expression 1, just in case, so it is always calculated after the Align to Spline.

Yes, I use The MoSpline to control the whole setup more.

Please also note that I tried to find the "gap" usually closed by "Close Spline" to find the most matching area among all three splines. I have no "one-size-fits-all" suggestion, but I hope the set of options allows for the control you like to have.

Typically, I "play" with some settings to get a feel for the needed shape, and there is often a sweet spot.

If you are looking for a 360º/180º image export (Equirectangular), use the Spherical camera and set the image to a 2:1 format (most apps like formats divideable by 2, e.g., a 1 K is typically 1024 [not 1000]).
