Each tracking that has some challenges is a learning process, which I love. Here the key was to interpolate the features when they were obscured.

Based on your post above, the top and bottom parts (while I have no model here) might need to have an edge selection along the line I have drawn in the image.

This edge selection might be along the edge of the mold. For this object, the mold was split into two main parts. With no details in the texture, the bottom part can be scaled smaller to have enough room for the detailed top part. Online viewing works best when the data is small.

With this edge loop, the relaxing options are better suited to work towards the model's needs. Some pins help keep it from distorting too much.

There are two options in the Relax UV process:
LSCM (Least Squares Conformal Maps) or ABS (Angle Based Flattening)

Which one of the two to choose? After each iteration, I would take a UV checkerboard image and see how it looks (How to do that is in the link below. The key to the textured area should be a projection that produces an equal texture on any part, which is often not 100% possible.

Think of wrapping an orange with a single piece of paper. Yes, that is pretty much the work of two thousand years trying to unwrap the earth to a flat map. I have a book filled with attempts to do that (Flattening the Earth, by John P. Snyder). I share that, as it often feels frustrating not to get a perfect result, this book shows that there are limits to this game.

The bottom part, so far I understand it, needs no relaxed procedure; it could be unwrapped in any way and scaled-down, which means focusing on the top part and evaluating based on a checkerboard pattern

To work from images doesn't allow for good answers.

Going by what I see, it is a relatively high polygon count, which is not ideal for this task.

My initial question would be, if the points are not altered, how was it moved in this shape? Based on joints, then I would suggest employing the weight map and the joints to move it back. I assume you have thought about that, but I have no information about what you did.

Dragging the new mesh into a Pose Morph that is connected to the initial Object should work, kind of, as the points are "moved" in a straight line or around one single axis. If that works at all, I can't tell based on the images. I suggest placing and aligning the Pose Morph axis where the Toe joint was.

I can't do anything from images, especially those that don't show the whole, as the vertical line (left) indicates. There is a little green dot, which indicates there is a Generator outside of the image frame.

Yes, there are certainly a lot of tiny little tricks that need to be shared. Having done the timestamps for the past 11 episodes for the Hands On Character show, I believe we can quickly fill a third season with tips and tricks while going deeper into the tech. But I fear those solutions are more interesting when needed during a project, not presented in a more extended series.
With that being said, I hope to fill those gaps that are naturally left and learn from everyone's questions I got over the past nearly two decades.

Hi Michal Rodzinski,

The idea is to rotate the points around the axis but not the axis itself.

The position of each Point is based on the Object Axis. With this, the Normal is a Local idea. So you need to rotate the "surface" but not the axis. How to do that? Rotate Point from the X-Pool>System Presets> Matrix in XPresso.

I have marked what can be moved and what can be rotated. Any derivation from that and the system is broken.

The "surface" can now be rotated or moved" while the Vertex Map is focused on the light source.

Since I have no file here, and screen capture nor images tell me that, I can only suggest/guess that you had in the Point Node, not the "Use Deformed Points" checked on.

With that knowledge, you might use the Cluster Object to rotate the points around, while the Object that rotates the Point is a child of the Object, so it stays at Position 0, 0, 0.

Thanks for clearing it up, Larson Monkey; I searched for an Axis option inside the import options (hence my screen-shot) and even went back a few releases, just in case something would have changed.

The Axis Center's settings will be used for the Command "Center Axis To…".
To my understanding, it will not change the Instance object, but if you select "Use All Objects" in the Axis Center, it will affect the content of the Instance Object. I am not sure if that is the outcome you like to have. As the axis of the Instance Object is used then as an origin. I hope I got your question right. The Instance Object Axis manipulated by instanced points will change, but at that moment, move their content with them. So, if you use that Command again, the new position of the points, edges, or polygons will be used to position it. That can get messy.

From what I got, the All Object option in Axis Center will do that for you, but I'm unclear if the result will be to your liking.
