Sorry that you run into trouble, and I do not just write this, I just battled weeks with a different (3rd party) app, crashing on start. I hope it is fixed ASAP!

I saw some minor trouble with RS Toons in the "usual channels" I checked, but if your problem has the same source as others, support needs to determine it. It might not be fixed unless it is defined based on your input. Thanks for considering.

Takes are parameter-driven "sets" of information. This way, perhaps setting ones to visible and others to not (or activate/de-activate) might work.

I'm not familiar with the workflow or exact target you have, so please test this:

I have used a PoseMorph here, while the "Blend-Shape is an object from the Object Manager (with this, changes are easy, as the object is present.

When you click through the Takes, you will see the effect.

Fingers crossed, that will fit to your workflow, but my gut feeling tells me, we have to look deeper...

Thanks for the file.

The two Bend Deformers are each (separately) set up so that they would keep the Geometry-like paper.

However, they no longer work on a sheet of paper; the second one works like a tube. With this, the bend will either squeeze or stretch a certain part of this "Object".

There is no solution for that with two bend Deformers nor in reality. The second one starts working on an object that has a volume.

What you need to do is a single option to deform. Many joints might be the answer if the target is a multiple-curved object. Going by the extended timeline setting, it feels like you stopped very early. Suggesting something at that point makes me wonder if any suggestion will result in an "but later that wouldn't work...

Do you have any way to share the complete animation idea, e.g., via storyboard?

Please note that I have set the scene-wide Gravity to zero but introduced the Gravity Force to direct the progress.

Hi Pim,

In the scene, you have two needs: Progressively vanishing polygons and producing particles only on the event horizon when polygons disappear.

In the first half of the screen capture, I show what happens if that is not limited to the particular line.

In this way, two Fields take over each of the needs.

The one for Particles is used in the Polygon Selection to define where the Surface Emitter should produce new particles.

Typically, I would also suggest exploring the DXF file export if Splines are already created (e.g., Edge Selection to Spline), but your model was not easy to transfer into 2D, and Illustrator needs to open it.

Sometimes Splines can be projected to a surface, but in your example, that might have changed the outcome (orthogonal projection vs. 3D/Perspective setup)

Not to my knowledge.

Typically, it depends. RS Post Effects that change only the pixel value (vs. position) can be separated by Beauty Render minus the Post Effect-based results. If it is light-based effects, then it is added to the Beauty—simple math. Since I say it in a general way, I must say that I'm sure there might be exceptions.
I love the option to add those for demo scenes, but in production, I would not "burn" those in if no "Beauty Output" is available.

It might be better to do that in the post. There is always a change... (Does that sound familiar?)

My doctoral work is about computer simulation, specifically filmic aspects of architectural animation and how they may or may not manipulate the virtual experience of the object in question. While living in Germany, I wrote it while the doctor (in my case, Doctor of Scientific Engineering) is part of the name and even entered the Passport. My other degrees are not seen on that level. Since I live on the West Coast of the USA, I have heard different ways that are seen here. But also, to get my new Passport here, I used the artist name I have since "ever" and placed it as my official first name.

So, I am known under Dr. Sassi, and even most colleagues here use it. We respect each other, and everyone can create their own "space" for themselves. I love that freedom and the respect we have for each other.

I enjoy having that same vibe here in the Forum, and I like to support everyone in any aspect that makes them happy and seen. I surely want to support anyone reaching their full artistic potential, even if it is mostly helping with the tools.
I might sometimes miss a point, but that has a little bit to do with the fact that we are not in the same room. But I try to keep up 🙂

Let's start with the detailed Model.
Here is a little example of how I would handle the detail shots.

From that Model, you can render the wave "texture" for the shots with less detail required. If not differentiable, I prefer Texture, Bump/Displacement, and geometry for the very detailed shots only.

As the saying goes, get your money (time investment) on the screen; if it is not visible, don't bother with details. 😉

Of course, a lot is possible if you use Multi Instances or RS Proxies.
I have not seen the storyboard, which would help develop a strategy. Developing an option for all thinkable cases would require more time and may produce too much that will never be used. I guess that is you idea already.

Once the audience has seen the details, then – for the not-so-detailed shots, a little resemblance is often enough to "sell" the shots with less detailed attention. Once a detail is understood, the audience often relies on memory.
